When searching for a capable attorney to defend you from criminal charges, it can be hard finding a lawyer with a reputation you can trust. Many lawyers define themselves as “committed” and “passionate.” Some lawyers may even claim they can get you the “best” results, which no lawyer can guarantee.

To help you distinguish a reputable attorney from one that uses aggressive marketing, there are numerous third-party institutions that provide attorney evaluations. In Florida, the State Supreme Court tasked the Florida Bar with developing a “Board Certification” program. Within the state, only attorneys who have earned this certification can call themselves “specialists”. We are proud to say that all of the attorneys at Funk, Szachacz & Diamond are Board Certified Criminal Trial Law Specialists.

What it Means that We Are Board Certified

Being board certified in criminal trial law means that an attorney has been in practice full-time for a minimum of five years. Additionally, they must have completed at least 25 criminal cases with at least 20 trials that resolved with a verdict. At least 15 of these trials must have involved a felony charge. Additionally, the attorney must have served as lead counsel in 10 of these cases, minimum.

Board Certified attorneys are reevaluated every five years to assure their expertise in Criminal Trial Law. At Funk, Szachacz & Diamond, our attorneys are committed to retaining this certification for the duration of their careers.
